The Lord knows that people’s thoughts are pointless.
O Lord, blessed is the person whom you discipline and instruct from your teachings.
When we encouraged you, we didn’t use unethical schemes, corrupt practices, or deception.
Rather, we are always spreading the Good News. God trusts us to do this because we passed his test. We don’t try to please people but God, who tests our motives.
Many rulers believed in Jesus. However, they wouldn’t admit it publicly because the Pharisees would have thrown them out of the synagogue.
They were more concerned about what people thought of them than about what God thought of them.
Are you a people pleaser or a God pleaser?
Pontius Pilate was a people pleaser.
He found no reason to crucify Jesus, yet, because of the crowds, He handed our Savior over to death on a cross.
He had an innocent man killed just to please the people and let a murderer go free.
That’s an extreme example, but it’s also true.
It shows you how far we can miss the mark if we don’t follow God and instead follow man.
Our own thoughts and feelings can become a false god.
Are you God?
Then you should submit to God.
If you submit to your own thoughts and feelings to control your life, you’re a dead man walking.
God’s teachings give us life.
A person cannot live by bread alone, but on every word that God speaks.
I cannot encourage you enough to read your Bible and do what it says.
Get a reliable translation that endeavors to be faithful to the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts.
There are some heretical teachings circulating in the Church that are being reinforced by some Bible “translations” that are not even real translations.
They are the thoughts of fallen man.
Greedy false preachers will tell you what you want to hear.
If Jesus preached their messages, He never would have been crucified.
I’m not going to name names, because it’s not my job to accuse.
My job is to be a fruit inspector and act accordingly.
Are the fruits of the Spirit evident?
Continue in fellowship.
Are the fruits of the carnal nature evident?
Rebuke and reprove with Scripture.
Are the fruits of repentance evident?
Then forgive and restore in relationship.
If not, do not continue to associate with the unrepentant sinner.
I’ve seen this abused in legalistic circles.
What’s most important is our motive.
Are we trying to build the person up in love into a mature disciple of Jesus Christ?
Or are we trying to exercise power and control to advance our selfish ambitions?
There’s a huge difference in possible motivation for one’s actions.
Our hearts are deceitfully wicked.
That’s why we need the Holy Spirit to clean our lives up.
Most people have no clue how deceived they are.
That’s where Scripture comes in.
It’s God’s word.
Written down so that you can read it over and over again.
It’s anti-world brainwash.
It cleanses and renews the mind.
Worldliness got you down?
Read the Bible and rediscover the truth.
People acting like idiots all around you?
Read the Bible and be encouraged to keep fighting the good fight of faith.
The polarization between the world and the Church will continue to increase until all of God’s people are persecuted for their faith.
They hated Jesus because He showed them that their actions were evil.
You will be mocked for doing good.
You cannot be concerned about the opinions of others.
They change like shifting shadows.
There’s only One judge who you should be concerned about pleasing, and that’s Jesus.
You have free will.
You make your own choices.
Don’t let the devil control you.
Submit to God’s authority.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
If God’s not the highest authority in your life, in your daily walk, then who is?
And what’s he offering?
Only God gives us promises that cannot be broken.
Believe in Jesus.
Accept Him as Lord and Savior so that it will go well for you.
This life is but a vapor.
We’re here one day, gone the next.
In a few generations, there will be no memory of us ever existing.
What will your life have meant then?
If you’re not serving God in this life, you won’t be in His eternal presence in the next.
Choose this day whom you will serve.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
