Times Like These

Do not brag about tomorrow, because you do not know what another day may bring.

Praise should come from another person and not from your own mouth, from a stranger and not from your own lips.

Proverbs 27:1‭-‬2 GW

Pay attention to this! You’re saying, “Today or tomorrow we will go into some city, stay there a year, conduct business, and make money.”

You don’t know what will happen tomorrow. What is life? You are a mist that is seen for a moment and then disappears.

Instead, you should say, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and carry out our plans.”

However, you brag because you’re arrogant. All such bragging is evil.

Whoever knows what is right but doesn’t do it is sinning.

James 4:13‭-‬17 GW

You must understand this: In the last days there will be violent periods of time.

People will be selfish and love money. They will brag, be arrogant, and use abusive language. They will curse their parents, show no gratitude, have no respect for what is holy, and lack normal affection for their families.

They will refuse to make peace with anyone. They will be slanderous, lack self-control, be brutal, and have no love for what is good.

They will be traitors. They will be reckless and conceited. They will love pleasure rather than God.

They will appear to have a godly life, but they will not let its power change them. Stay away from such people.

Some of these men go into homes and mislead weak-minded women who are burdened with sins and led by all kinds of desires. These women are always studying but are never able to recognize the truth.

As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men oppose the truth. Their minds are corrupt, and the faith they teach is counterfeit.

Certainly, they won’t get very far. Like the stupidity of Jannes and Jambres, their stupidity will be plain to everyone.

2 Timothy 3:1‭-‬9 GW

It is clear to those who know the Lord and know Scripture, what sin is.

Sin is failing to do the right thing.

Like being humble.

The world loves to brag.

All such bragging is sin.

All I hear is bragging and slander.

Even without the gift of discernment, we know from Scripture, that is the fruit of counterfeit faith.

Real faith loves God.

Real faith trusts in God.

Real faith testifies to what God has done.

Real faith cannot see tomorrow, but it knows God will be there.

Beware of false prophets.

They appear to have a godly life, but they do not let God’s power change them.

Inside, they are ravenous wolves.

They don’t want to make disciples.

They want to make subscribers.

They want to make customers.

They want to take your money but care nothing for your soul.

Discipleship is done person to person.

It takes time.

A lot of time.

It’s based on relationship.

First, your relationship with God.

Then, your relationships in God.

These are dangerous days, perilous times.

Watch.

Listen.

Examine their fruit.

You will know them by their fruit.

Do not be deceived.

The spirit of error is at work in the sons of disobedience.

If they are bragging, they are sinning.

You have been taught to obey Scripture, not the voice of man.

Lord God,

Obey our eyes and ears.

Lead us not into temptation.

But deliver us from the evil one.

In His Name we pray, the Name of Jesus, amen.
