Enemy, Fan or Follower

The person who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:8 GW

Whoever isn’t against us is for us.

Mark 9:40 GW

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses, and follow me. Those who want to save their lives will lose them. But those who lose their lives for me will find them. What good will it do for people to win the whole world and lose their lives? Or what will a person give in exchange for life? The Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father’s glory. Then he will pay back each person based on what that person has done.”

Matthew 16:24‭-‬27 GW

Some say that there’s two sides to every story.

The truth is, there’s three.

There’s your perception, my perception and the Word of God.

Our mutual interpretations of our circumstances might seem like truth because they’re real to us but that doesn’t necessarily make it so.

What do I mean?

We can be deceived.

The enemy can lie to us and we can believe it.

We can believe the lie.

Most people do.

We lie to ourselves.

We do it to make ourselves feel better.

But the truth is absolute.

It doesn’t play favorites.

It’s not based on what you did or who you know.

Performance and nepotism/cronyism aren’t part of the equation.

So what’s left?

What you believe.

Jesus is the truth.

He’s the living representation of God’s divine nature.

Think about it.

God came as a man.

Jesus was that man.

How did He live?

That’s the life we should emulate.

He didn’t build a comfortable mansion to live in.

He didn’t form a business to make himself and his friends rich.

He didn’t run for political or religious office.

He didn’t make people serve His wants and needs.

He came to serve.

He came to be crucified.

He gave His life so that we could inherit eternal life.

That’s what we’re called to do.

Lay down your life as a living sacrifice so that others can see the light and be brought to Christ.

That’s the meaning of life.

Beyond that, I don’t know.

Materialism fails to satisfy.

Our nation is destroying the planet to feed our addiction to consumerism.

I encourage you to fast from consumerism.

Find what really feeds your soul.

It’s relationship.

And that can be neither bought nor sold.

Return to the real.

Love God.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

We are one.

Bless you this season.

And may God’s will be done.

So really, there’s one of three possible positions you can take on our Lord Jesus Christ.

You can be His enemy and serve Satan.

You can be a fan and go to church but never actually do the Word.

Or you can be a follower.

Led by the Spirit.

To do His will, not your own.

I don’t know about you, but I’m giving all I got on following God.

I think that might turn out the best.

God bless and see you in the New Year!
