Find Your Way Back

May this God of peace prepare you to do every good thing he wants. May he work in us through Jesus Christ to do what is pleasing to him. Glory belongs to Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

Hebrews 13:21 GW

Those who stop associating with dishonorable people will be honored. They will be set apart for the master’s use, prepared to do good things.

Stay away from lusts which tempt young people. Pursue what has God’s approval. Pursue faith, love, and peace together with those who worship the Lord with a pure heart.

Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments. You know they cause quarrels. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel. Instead, he must be kind to everyone. He must be a good teacher. He must be willing to suffer wrong. He must be gentle in correcting those who oppose the Good News. Maybe God will allow them to change the way they think and act and lead them to know the truth. Then they might come back to their senses and God will free them from the devil’s snare so that they can do his will.

2 Timothy 2:21‭-‬26 GW

From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures. They have the power to give you wisdom so that you can be saved through faith in Christ Jesus.

Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that has God’s approval.

They equip God’s servants so that they are completely prepared to do good things.

2 Timothy 3:15‭-‬17 GW

Sometimes I feel like I’m behind enemy lines.

Here in the land of the free.

It would appear our culture is opposed to Christian values.

Immorality, even murdering the unborn, is legal.

Sinful lifestyles are now protected by law from discrimination.

There was a tipping point somewhere, and we’re well past it now.

I sound like a conservative don’t I?

I’m actually very progressive in my politics, but I take my moral code of conduct from the teachings in the Bible.

We’re at a weird place in history.

Thank God I’m not responsible for this mess.

I am, however, responsible for my life and my teachings.

I don’t teach hate.

I love everyone.

I teach deliverance.

That’s the real cure for what ails you.

People don’t realize that the biggest source of their problems is generational curses.

The sins of our fathers pass on to multiple generations.

There are spiritual laws at work.

You do the crime, we do the time.

I’m in recovery.

It’s a topic I know well because I’ve lived it.

I even considered becoming an addictions counselor.

But I realized that’s a waste of time for me to pursue.

My ways don’t line up with standard Western medical practices.

Here’s my recipe for recovery:

50% Deliverance

50% Discipleship

Cast the demons out of them and teach them how to live.

That’s not going to fly in your 12 Step Programs, nor your scientifically researched, evidence based approaches.

There’s some value in both.

In fact, there’s at least 48 different methods for treating addiction.

Add my theory and that makes 49.

Science is great but it’s only useful in proving your own hypothesis.

It’s based on observation.

It’s derivative knowledge.

It’s still useful but it doesn’t answer the core issues of life.

The only reason I believe in God is because of my personal experiences and encounters with God.

Only after I came to faith did I start reading the Bible, listening to sermons and fellowshipping with other believers.

I didn’t grow up in the church.

I had to learn the hard way.

But the lessons learned are impossible to forget.

It gets me through when it seems like the whole world has lost its mind.

I’ve lost my mind from time to time.

But, somehow, by the grace of God, He always brings me back to my senses.

I’m going to keep going to my secular recovery groups because I’m learning some things I didn’t know before about managing my mind.

It’s also great training for the mission field.

We can’t talk politics or religion.

We can only talk about what works for us.

Not sure they’re ready to hear what’s working for me.

But that is only a small part of my life.

The rest of the time, I have the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion.

Thank God for that.

Many nations don’t.

And they need the Gospel as much as we do.

I dare say, the Lord is preparing me.

For what?

God only knows.

For every soul that has wandered away from the truth, my prayer is that you will find your way back to the heart of God.

May God have mercy on us all.

And lead us into everlasting life.

To God be the glory.
