From the mouths of little children and infants, you have built a fortress against your opponents to silence the enemy and the avenger.
There isn’t any temptation that you have experienced which is unusual for humans. God, who faithfully keeps his promises, will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power to resist. But when you are tempted, he will also give you the ability to endure the temptation as your way of escape.
Don’t get drunk on wine, which leads to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Spirit by reciting psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs for your own good. Sing and make music to the Lord with your hearts.
What is the devil’s chief strategy to corrupt people?
How does that work?
Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away from the way of abundant life.
These desires give birth to sinful actions.
The devil knows how sinful carnal humanity is.
He doesn’t have any power over us except the power we give him.
So he tricks us.
He deceives us.
He promises one thing and gives us another.
He’s a liar after all.
All the enemy does is lie to you.
If you believe the lie.
If you give attention to the lie.
If you act on the lie.
Trouble will find you.
How do you combat the devil’s strategies?
There’s one super easy way to silence the enemy: praising God.
It’s so simple, even babies can do it.
You don’t have to be a spiritual giant to sing praises to the Lord.
It’s usually one of the first, if not the first, things that happens when the congregation comes together to worship the Lord.
And from a humanistic, logical standpoint it still makes sense.
You can only think one thought at a time.
If that thought is, “I’m going to praise the Lord,” then you can’t pay attention to the lies of the enemy in that moment.
Perhaps you’re going through a difficult season.
One of the storms of this life.
You have to praise your way out.
Remember who your God is.
Remember that He fights your battles.
Remember that He inhabits the praises of His people.
God’s promises are faithful.
You can trust God.
When you are tempted, which means don’t be surprised when temptation comes.
He will provide a way out, which means follow God.
What is that way?
Instead of focusing on the temptation, turn your attention back to God and praise the only One who can save your soul, the Holy One of Israel.
The war is heating up.
The enemy knows his time is short.
We know we have the victory.
This is no time for complacency.
The only reason we have the victory is the blood of Jesus.
So let’s praise Him and thank Him and send the enemy fleeing from our presence.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Let our tongues be quick to praise Your Holy Name.
May mercy and peace follow us all of our days.
May the Name of our God be lifted high.
May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
All for Your glory, in the Name of Jesus.
Get your praise on!
