The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.
But dedicate your lives to Christ as Lord. Always be ready to defend your confidence ⌊in God⌋ when anyone asks you to explain it. However, make your defense with gentleness and respect.
There’s a new day dawning in the Church with regards to evangelism.
It starts with motive.
Why do we want to share the Good News?
Is it our Christian duty?
Sure it is.
Did Jesus command us to?
Will we be rewarded for winning souls?
But all of those valid reasons pale in comparison to the true intention of Gospel preaching.
What is it?
It’s not about us.
It’s about them.
Those who need mercy.
Jesus Christ is the announcement of God’s mercy.
God loves us.
His love is merciful.
He is a graciously forgiving God.
If you’ve ever been a lost soul like I was, it’s a very lonely place.
The world seems big and scary and everyone’s out to exploit you for selfish gain.
What’s the opposite of that?
In our world, family isn’t always what it was originally intended to be.
That’s why there’s never been a better time to go out there and love your neighbors.
People are hungry.
All the systems of man have let them down.
They are dying for lack of hope.
What would you do if you had an endless supply of comfort available?
Just sit around feeling comfortable?
Would you hoard it for yourself?
Maybe try to sell it piecemeal?
Make a profit?
Or would you give it away?
The Holy Spirit is our comforter.
The gift of God cannot be bought or sold.
Freely you have received, so freely give.
The face of evangelism is changing.
It’s not street corner soapboxing.
It’s not crowds filling stadiums.
It’s not tracts left on windshields.
It’s an organic expression of loving community in a cold, dark world.
Jesus never met a stranger.
He called everyone he reached out to friend.
Even those who would betray him.
Perfect love casts out fear.
Know the Lord.
Know the Word.
Be filled with His Spirit.
What would happen if every believer was equipped to share the reason for their hope?
What if they knew the Gospel?
What if they could explain it in their own words a hundred different ways depending on who they were talking to?
What if they could testify to what God had done in their lives?
Everyday I read my Bible.
I need to be reminded daily of the truth.
Almost everything you hear in this world is based on a lie.
Jesus Christ is the truth.
He died for our sins.
He set the captives free.
Shake off your slumber.
Get back in the game.
The game of winning souls.
You can play it everyday for free.
And only God knows the score.
Be of good courage.
There are hurting hearts everywhere that need an encouraging word.
Do not be ashamed of the Gospel.
Because it is the power of God to bring salvation to everyone who believes.
Be blessed in the Lord Jesus Christ.
