Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace— in peace because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord God you have an everlasting rock.
“Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Place my yoke over your shoulders, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble. Then you will find rest for yourselves because my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
If the Lord does not build the house, it is useless for the builders to work on it. If the Lord does not protect a city, it is useless for the guard to stay alert.
It is useless to work hard for the food you eat by getting up early and going to bed late. The Lord gives ⌊food⌋ to those he loves while they sleep.
Peace is one of the fruits of the spirit.
Right after love and joy.
I believe that the fruits of the spirit develop progressively.
It all starts with love and ends with self-control.
Along that journey to self-discipline you’ll find peace.
You know what’s not a fruit of the spirit?
Faith and hope.
Faith and hope are our responses to Jesus.
The fruits are the bait of a godly life that lure others in.
Do we believe the message of salvation?
That’s the key to the Kingdom.
Jesus is the door.
No one gets to the Father except through Him.
Faith opens the door.
Hope keeps us going.
In spite of every circumstance, our hope is in Jesus.
He cannot lie.
He said He’s coming back again, so we wait patiently.
God’s the One who takes care of everyone and everything.
Do we allow Him to?
Or do we take back control and try to do things in our own wisdom with our own strength?
For me it’s a daily struggle to stay surrendered to God’s will, God’s way and God’s timing.
I want to rush ahead and make things happen.
But when I do, it feels like work.
When I rest in Him and worship and pray, all my concerns evaporate.
In the stillness, in the quiet place, that is where He is found.
I’m still going to do stuff.
But none of that stuff is all that important.
What’s important is walking in step with Jesus.
He does the heavy lifting.
We’re just along for the ride and to be eyewitnesses of what God is doing.
It took me getting a head cold for me to slow down and rest.
All my concerns, they can wait until tomorrow.
What’s most important is spending quality time with the Lord.
I can tell Him my problems and concerns.
I can point out how I don’t see how this is all going to work out perfectly.
But that’s okay.
He is bigger than my doubts and short-sightedness.
This walk of faith.
It’s a daily walk.
Listen to God.
Do what He says.
Come back tomorrow and do it again.
I pray that the Lord gives you rest.
I pray that you can cast all your concerns on Him.
I pray that the love of God would overwhelm you until you realize God is all you need.
May He give us fresh eyes and ears to see and hear what the Spirit is doing with His Church.
God’s in control.
To God be the glory forever and ever.
