The Ones That Go

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Mark 16:15‭-‬18 NRSV

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19‭-‬20 NRSV

For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Romans 10:13‭-‬15 NRSV

Can a message send itself?

No.

Someone sends the message.

And someone receives the message.

How is the message sent?

Through a messenger.

The message we preach is Christ crucified.

We can break it down and explain it.

We can instruct on how to apply this message in practical ways.

To know Christ completely changes your worldview.

It changes how you think.

It changes how you act.

And as you continually renew your mind with Scripture, you are transformed into a Christian.

It’s a lifelong process.

There are daily applications and daily tests.

It’s a daily journey of living by faith.

I find it’s best to minimize the amount of worldly information you consume.

There’s no end to it and it lacks any significance in the grand scheme of things.

Scripture says to guard your heart.

That means your inner being.

As a man thinks, so is he.

Set your mind on things above.

We are in the world, but not of the world.

I think too many believers have become jaded and no longer treasure their salvation by God’s grace.

Their hearts have grown cold.

And they no longer shine.

They are indistinguishable from the world.

Disciples are always on mission.

It’s a mindset, not a destination.

Go and bear witness to what the Lord has done.

Demonstrate the Gospel with power.

Be not afraid.

We have what they need.

God’s Holy Spirit.

Set the captives free.

In Jesus’ Name I pray.

Amen.

Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. The two went down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit (for as yet the Spirit had not come upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus). Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Acts 8:14‭-‬17 NRSV
