Only Jesus

Jesus told them, “You don’t need to know about times or periods that the Father has determined by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes to you. Then you will be my witnesses to testify about me in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:7‭-‬8 GW

Peter and the other apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than people. You murdered Jesus by hanging him on a cross. But the God of our ancestors brought him back to life. God used his power to give Jesus the highest position as leader and savior. He did this to lead the people of Israel to him, to change the way they think and act, and to forgive their sins. We are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

Acts 5:29‭-‬32 GW

Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace. The number of people increased as people lived in the fear of the Lord and the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 9:31 GW

If you obey God, He will give you the Holy Spirit as a gift.

The Holy Spirit brings comfort and miracle working power, among other things.

Father God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are One.

They have the same essence.

If you walk in obedience, you will have communion with God.

God living inside you.

The human body is meant to be a temple of the Holy Spirit.

It’s where His Presence dwells.

In God’s Presence, people get healed.

Demons have to flee.

Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

If you don’t resist, then he’ll gain entry into your body and mind.

The way of Christ is to be in continual fellowship with God.

Sin breaks that fellowship.

Confessing and repenting (turning away from sin and toward God) restores that fellowship.

You control your body.

You control your thoughts.

You control your emotions.

You have free will.

Use that free will to choose Christ.

Use that free will to follow Jesus.

Use that free will to obey God.

You can use it for other things, but it will not be fruitful and will lead to death.

Obedience is better than sacrifice.

Jesus was the sacrifice for our sins.

God is looking for those who are obedient.

All the time.

Not just when people are watching.

God sees in secret.

He knows what you do in secret.

He knows what you’re thinking before you think it.

He examines our hearts and our motives.

Who can cleanse us from our sin?

Only Jesus.

Who can heal us?

Only Jesus.

Who can deliver us from evil?

Only Jesus.

This life, it’s all about Jesus.

When you are baptised, you are buried with Jesus and raised up in Jesus.

It is no longer you who lives, but Christ in you.

Quit identifying with your old, flesh nature.

Your carnal nature and its desires have been crucified with Christ.

The Holy Spirit now lives in you.

You have the divine nature.

Obey that nature.

How?

Only Jesus can show you.

It’s time to go deeper.

Walk in the Spirit.

Speak what the Spirit says.

Do what He tells you to do.

It’s easy once you know how.

Awaken the nations!

In Christ Jesus I pray.

Amen.

A Consistent Witness

You are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets. Christ Jesus himself is the cornerstone. In him all the parts of the building fit together and grow into a holy temple in the Lord.

Ephesians 2:20‭-‬21 GW

Look at our shield, O God. Look with favor on the face of your anointed one.

Psalms 84:9 GW

Finally, receive your power from the Lord and from his mighty strength.

Put on all the armor that God supplies. In this way you can take a stand against the devil’s strategies.

This is not a wrestling match against a human opponent. We are wrestling with rulers, authorities, the powers who govern this world of darkness, and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly world.

For this reason, take up all the armor that God supplies. Then you will be able to take a stand during these evil days. Once you have overcome all obstacles, you will be able to stand your ground.

So then, take your stand! Fasten truth around your waist like a belt. Put on God’s approval as your breastplate.

Put on your shoes so that you are ready to spread the Good News that gives peace.

In addition to all these, take the Christian faith as your shield. With it you can put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Also take salvation as your helmet and the word of God as the sword that the Spirit supplies.

Pray in the Spirit in every situation. Use every kind of prayer and request there is. For the same reason be alert. Use every kind of effort and make every kind of request for all of God’s people.

Also pray that God will give me the right words to say. Then I will speak boldly when I reveal the mystery of the Good News.

Ephesians 6:10‭-‬19 GW

There is so much wrong with this world that it can be a little overwhelming trying to get your bearings.

What are we supposed to do?

How do we effect change?

It’s actually surprisingly simple.

We just need to be a consistent witness.

That’s our responsibility.

Too often we try to take responsibility for problems and situations that are way beyond our scope or ability to manage.

The best managers in the world rely on God’s guidance.

It’s impossible to take every variable into account.

The only way to live victoriously and abundantly is by totally surrendering to God’s will.

And that’s okay.

God loves you.

He has a plan, a purpose and a promise for you.

You can trust God.

People on the other hand, well, you better keep your wits about you.

Think about the apostles and prophets.

What did they do?

They consistently said and did what God wanted them to.

Jesus Christ is the perfect witness of God’s love.

Lay it all down for others who don’t deserve God’s grace, and God will bless you more than anyone else.

What does the word consistent mean?

It means not self-contradictory.

If you’re a consistent follower of Christ, you’re not going to be a hypocrite.

You will conform to the teachings of Christ.

What’s a witness?

Someone who gives testimony.

Your life is a testimony.

Our faith is a shield.

The devil would accuse you of not measuring up.

However, the blood of Jesus covers all of our sins.

The matter has already been decided.

God covered the bill that we could not pay.

It’s been said and it’s been done and it is written.

We are covered in Christ.

We are hidden in Christ.

We are now Christ’s ambassadors.

Our job is to not waver in the face of adversity, trial or persecution.

We are saved by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

What this world needs is our consistent witness.

Whatever you do, do it unto God.

Anything not done in faith is sin.

“You are light for the world. A city cannot be hidden when it is located on a hill. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket. Instead, everyone who lights a lamp puts it on a lamp stand. Then its light shines on everyone in the house. In the same way let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14‭-‬16 GW

Deliver Us From Evil

No fear exists where his love is. Rather, perfect love gets rid of fear, because fear involves punishment. The person who lives in fear doesn’t have perfect love.

We love because God loved us first.

Whoever says, “I love God,” but hates another believer is a liar. People who don’t love other believers, whom they have seen, can’t love God, whom they have not seen.

Christ has given us this commandment: The person who loves God must also love other believers.

1 John 4:18‭-‬21 GW

Philip said to Jesus, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will satisfy us.”

Jesus replied, “I have been with all of you for a long time. Don’t you know me yet, Philip? The person who has seen me has seen the Father. So how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? What I’m telling you doesn’t come from me. The Father, who lives in me, does what he wants. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me. Otherwise, believe me because of the things I do.”

John 14:8‭-‬11 GW

“Use the truth to make them holy. Your words are truth. I have sent them into the world the same way you sent me into the world. I’m dedicating myself to this holy work I’m doing for them so that they, too, will use the truth to be holy.”

John 17:17‭-‬19 GW

People who lack self-control try to control other people.

Why would you try to control someone?

That’s disrespectful.

Even God gives us free will to make our own decisions.

Excel in showing respect to one another.

A controlling spirit is a spirit of witchcraft.

It’s an evil, demonic force that wants to enslave others into bondage to the devil.

Christ came to set us free.

And whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

You’re not going to counsel a demon out of someone.

You need to cast them out in the power and authority of the Name of Jesus.

He gave deliverance and healing ministries to all believers.

If your local church isn’t equipping you to walk as a believer in this world, find one that does.

Then Jesus said to them, “So wherever you go in the world, tell everyone the Good News. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

“These are the miraculous signs that will accompany believers: They will use the power and authority of my name to force demons out of people. They will speak new languages. They will pick up snakes, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them. They will place their hands on the sick and cure them.”

After talking with the apostles, the Lord was taken to heaven, where God gave him the highest position.

The disciples spread ⌊the Good News⌋ everywhere. The Lord worked with them. He confirmed his word by the miraculous signs that accompanied it.

Mark 16:15‭-‬20 GW

It’s very clear from reading the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles what Jesus commands us as disciples to do.

Our local churches are infested with demon filled people.

Do you have sin in your life?

Then you’re leaving the door wide open for Satan and his minions to come in and setup shop.

The Lord’s prayer even addresses this issue.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

That’s to be part of our daily prayer.

Why would He teach us to pray that if we didn’t need deliverance?

Deliverance is for believers.

If you cast a demon out of an unbeliever, it’ll come back with seven more wicked than itself.

We need to be preaching the Gospel to everyone everywhere.

The Holy Spirit will cause some to be convicted of their sinful nature and lead them to repentance.

Once you come to faith everything doesn’t magically get better instantly.

Well, sometimes it does.

But most of the time, it’s a process.

People are usually unaware of all the demonic influences in their life.

Just look at their fruit.

Now, the effects of the corrupt nature are obvious: illicit sex, perversion, promiscuity, idolatry, drug use, hatred, rivalry, jealousy, angry outbursts, selfish ambition, conflict, factions, envy, drunkenness, wild partying, and similar things.

I’ve told you in the past and I’m telling you again that people who do these kinds of things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the spiritual nature produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There are no laws against things like that.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their corrupt nature along with its passions and desires.

If we live by our spiritual nature, then our lives need to conform to our spiritual nature.

We can’t allow ourselves to act arrogantly and to provoke or envy each other.

Galatians 5:19‭-‬26 GW

It’s time to walk in faith.

It’s time to demonstrate the Gospel with power.

It all starts with love.

Love God.

Love people.

Set people free and heal them.

They’ll want to know this Jesus who lives inside you.

Father in Heaven,

Forgive us.

Forgive us for trying to build our own kingdoms while Your House lies in ruins.

Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit.

Fill us afresh with Your power and love.

Give us wisdom and revelation.

Help us to follow You in all that we do.

In the Name of the Risen Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray.

Amen.
