“Stay awake, and pray that you won’t be tempted. You want to do what’s right, but you’re weak.”

Mark 14:38 GW

Jesus told them, “When you pray, say this:

Let your name be kept holy.

Let your kingdom come.

Give us our bread day by day.

Forgive us as we forgive everyone else.

Don’t allow us to be tempted.”

Luke 11:2‭-‬4 GW

There isn’t any temptation that you have experienced which is unusual for humans.

God, who faithfully keeps his promises, will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power to resist.

But when you are tempted, he will also give you the ability to endure the temptation as your way of escape.

1 Corinthians 10:13 GW

We refer to people who have not been born again of the Spirit of God as spiritually dead.

They think and act like humans do.

They have not been awakened to Truth.

They have not been enlightened.

But even believers are prone to falling asleep.

Jesus even rebuked Peter once saying that he was thinking like a human.

The thoughts of the Spirit are not carnal thoughts.

They don’t seek to glorify the flesh and its desire to give in to temptation.

Temptation is nothing new.

Since the first humans walked the Earth, the enemy of our soul has been seeking to corrupt us by luring us to give in to temptation.

How do we endure?

How do we resist?

How do we overcome?

As Paul wrote to remind the Church in Corinth, God will provide a way of escape.

Jesus told us, pray to your Father in Heaven.

Ask and you shall receive.

Ask God for the ability to resist and endure temptation.

He will provide you with His strength by the Holy Spirit when your flesh is feeling weak.

Sin is missing the mark.

It’s falling short of the glory of God.

We are all sinners.

That’s why we need a Savior.

In our own strength, we could never overcome.

The Law of Moses proves that.

Jesus fulfilled the Law and ushered in the New Covenant of Grace.

What does that mean?

It means relationship triumphs over religion.

Following the rules won’t make you Christlike.

Knowing God will.

Jesus sacrificed Himself on behalf of all humans to restore us to right relationship with God.

Our job is to believe it by faith, which in and of itself is a gift from God so that no one can boast.

Evangelism is telling the Good News.

It’s not telling the bad news.

I think we all already know the bad news.

This world is really messed up and going to hell in a handbasket.

A lot of people already know the Good News, but they seem to have forgotten.

Or perhaps they have fallen asleep.

It’s time to wake them up.

Look around you.

Who is manifesting the fruits of the Spirit?

You know, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control?

Those are the people who need to be spreading the Gospel.

You can’t export what you don’t have.

You can’t fake it until you make it.

People want to see real, genuine, authentic faith in action.

This is not a performance.

This isn’t about being entertaining.

This is about changing lives.

Saving lives.

May the God of all Grace awaken you to your divine purpose and destiny.

May He empower and embolden you to be a demonstration of His power and love on this planet.

In Jesus’ Name I pray.
