The Gift of Repentance

And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning. And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”

When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.”

Acts 11:15‭-‬18 NASB

Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to each person according to his deeds: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.

There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

For there is no partiality with God.

Romans 2:4‭-‬11 NASB

Determine which things please the Lord.

Have nothing to do with the useless works that darkness produces. Instead, expose them for what they are.

Ephesians 5:10‭-‬11 GW

When the true light shines, it exposes the deeds done in darkness.

Without light, all is darkness.

Without faith, it is impossible to please God.

Without repentance, it is impossible to be saved.

It is the Holy Spirit of God that leads us to repentance, a turning away from our sinful ways, and a turning to God for salvation, life, and godliness.

Determine which things please the Lord.

And do those things.

As you do those things, the things of earth will grow strangely dim.

There’s a misconception that the Christian walk is all sorrow and heartache.

That’s just how it starts.

God needs to lead us to our breaking point.

A broken and contrite spirit pleases God.

We have to come face to face with our own moral bankruptcy and spiritual depravity.

Alone in the dark, we can fool ourselves that we’re not that bad, compared to some.

But on the Day of Judgment, we’ll be compared to the standard.

We will be judged by how well we measure up to Christ, who is the standard.

It’s not enough to just believe.

Actions speak louder than words.

Wisdom is proved right by her deeds.

How well did you love?

Did you not love your own life unto death?

Did you care for widows and orphans?

Did you tend to the believers’ needs?

Did you put away the deeds of darkness?

And did you walk in the light as He is in the light?

The day of reckoning approaches.

Keep your light on.

Even if the whole world goes dark, keep on shining on.

We were saved by the blood of one man.

And we will live by the Spirit of one Lord.

The teachings of Christ.

Lead to everlasting life.

Obedience is better than sacrifice.

Walk in obedience to Christ’s teachings.

That’s all that matters.

Money, power, fame, they’re all a losing game.

The meek shall inherit the Earth.

It is God’s kindness that leads us to repentance.

Faith is a gift from God.

Receive it.

Cherish it.

Guard it with your life.

Let your life be a life of faith.

And that alone can change the world.

Don’t strive for greatness.

Strive to be like Christ, and He will exalt you.

Surrender leads to victory through Christ.

Your life is over.

New life has begun.

Be one with the Son.

Grace and peace to you.

And may the Lord help lead you into all righteousness and truth.

To God be all the glory, amen and amen.

We love because God loved us first.
