Walk The Walk

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

1 John 4:18 NASB

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for doing what God approves of. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, lie, and say all kinds of evil things about you because of me.

“Rejoice and be glad because you have a great reward in heaven! The prophets who lived before you were persecuted in these ways.”

Matthew 5:10‭-‬12 GW

Jesus answered him, “Those who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will go to them and make our home with them. A person who doesn’t love me doesn’t do what I say. I don’t make up what you hear me say. What I say comes from the Father who sent me.

“I have told you this while I’m still with you. However, the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything. He will remind you of everything that I have ever told you.

“I’m leaving you peace. I’m giving you my peace. I don’t give you the kind of peace that the world gives. So don’t be troubled or cowardly.”

John 14:23‭-‬27 GW

It takes power to walk.

Energy.

To walk by faith takes the power that the Spirit supplies.

We’re in a great period of deconstruction.

You can’t build something that will stand the test of time on a shallow and flimsy foundation.

You have to build upon the Rock.

How does Jesus build His Church?

On the revelation that Jesus Christ is Lord.

As disciples, we’re in the soul winning business.

We beg people to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.

As much as my passion is to serve those who are in prison and on the streets, I see a great multitude imprisoned inside the walls of church buildings to empty religious practices devoid of the Spirit of God.

Perhaps it’s time for some reflection.

As the saying goes, if you want something different, you’ve got to do something different.

If you’ve ever been to a house church where all the gifts of the Spirit are operating, you’ll get a taste for something very different than what institutionalized Christianity produces.

Just like convicts get institutionalized after too much time behind bars, too much Western religion will cause their partakers to be unable to function in the real world, the mission field.

What’s the solution?

We have to get back to basics.

Talk the talk.

And walk the walk.

Talking without walking is self-deception and a disservice to the Body of Christ and the lost.

If the leaders of the fellowship aren’t sharing the Gospel with those who need to hear it, how can they expect others to?

Without good role models, the sheep go astray and get off mission.

Soon the weeds overgrow the wheat, and the harvest is ruined.

Jesus is our example.

From the start of His public ministry he preached repentance from dead works and the Kingdom of God.

The religious establishment didn’t want to hear what He had to say because it convicted them of their sin.

Easter is coming.

There’s no better time of the year to return to our mission of evangelizing the lost and welcoming them into the family of God.

We’re on the brink of breakthrough.

But we have to get over ourselves and start obeying the commandments of our Father in heaven.

Love your neighbors.

Speak the truth in love.

Share the Gospel knowing that it is God’s power to save.

You’re not responsible if they reject the message that God wants to save them from their eternal separation from His Holy Presence.

That’s where they’re at right now.

It’s within your reach to change it now and forever.

But you have to say something.

If they don’t hear, how will they believe?

Don’t let fear keep you a prisoner.

The righteous are bold as lions.

Spend some time alone with God this week.

Seek His face.

Ask Him what He wants you to do.

And then go do it.

Otherwise, your disobedience will bring corrective discipline.

Perhaps that’s why people don’t listen to God when they pray.

They’re afraid that He might actually be real and they might actually have to do something for someone else that can’t pay them back.

Jesus gave us eternal life.

There’s nothing we can do to pay Him back because it’s not in our power to give eternal life.

So we must do the next best thing.

Give Him our temporal lives and share the Good News of the free gift of God that gives grace to the hearer.

My prayer is that you will take your faith in Jesus Christ seriously.

Play time is over.

It’s time to go to work.

And by work, I mean loving God wholeheartedly and loving people the same way.

Those who are wise will shine like the brightness on the horizon. Those who lead many people to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever.

Daniel 12:3 GW
